June - Part Two

 June Part Two....

We spent a day driving the road to Hana.  We decided to do it backwards so we missed some of the crowds.  We started out the day doing an almost 5 mile hike to Waimoku Falls.  The hike was cooler than the falls. We hiked through bamboo forests that sounded so cool as the wind whistled through them. 

 

One of the only other stops we made was this waterfall.  We all decided to get in to swim.  Some of us were more willing than others.  It was freezing! 

We stopped to see the 7 Sacred Pools but you can't swim in them anymore. 

Mia was gently helped in. 

The next day we ate at Mama's Fish house.  We ate a lot of amazing food while in Hawaii but this might have been the best.  

Ripley was still having a grand time! 

More beach time.  Mia wasn't as interested in swimming in the ocean this day but had a great time entertaining herself on the beach.

Another amazing meal at Duke's. 

The legendary Hula pie was delicious. 

We spent one more day at the beach and pool at our hotel.  I didn't get a picture but Mia did some more boogie boarding and caught some major waves.  The waves were getting pretty crazy! 

One of the last things we did was a traditional Luau. It was very cool. 

Sadly, it was time to check out. 

We had some time to kill the last day so we went to visit Lahaina.  It was very sad to see. 

We almost forgot to squeeze in a shaved ice so we googled the best on the island.  Ululani's did not disappoint.  It was so good! We wished we could get it five more times. 

The trip home felt like a breeze compared to the trip to get to Hawaii.  We took the red eye home and landed at about 6:00 am.  

Ripley was glad to see us and our laundry. 

Mia had to go almost straight to dance after flying home and dance for four and a half hours. She actually had a lot of energy but was tired after.  

The day after we got home Alex took his driving test and passed so the day after that we were able to go get his license.  It has been sad, good and weird to have him driving on his own now.  

I had to document his first day driving to football by himself.  He doesn't quite have his own car yet but that is coming soon.  

I have always wanted to do the Utah Valley Parade of homes and we heard there were going to be some amazing ones in the parade this year.  We didn't have time to see them all but Brandon, Mia and I visited quite a few including this giant estate that belongs to the owner of Crumbl. 

A few days later it was Father's day and time to celebrate our favorite dad. 

Alex was ripping off his church clothes before we were fully in the house so this picture had to do. 

Alex got a pretty bad turf burn at football practice.  Sadly it went from bad to worse as he tried to bandage it.  Luckily they had a break for a few weeks and it was finally able to heal.

Mia got to attend a dance swimming party as a kick off to nationals. Sadly it was the only cold day this summer and they could barely stand to be in the pool.  

She did jump off the high dive once. 

At the end of the month we went to Lynette's retirement party.  The girls had a great time playing conference. 

Alex spent the last days of June at Youth Conference.  They did a Book of Mormon style theme.  It look very elaborate and Alex had a good time. 

It was a great month.  More crazy days to come!
