Valentines Day

Even though Alex is by far the cutest member of our family I am going to try to make an effort to not make this blog completely about him (just mostly about him). Yesterday was Valentines Day and luckily Brandon had the day off so we could go have some fun. We have both been sick lately so we were looking forward to getting out of the house. Brandon's parents were kind enough to watch Alex during the day for us. We started off the fun by eating lunch at McGrath's Fish House. Even though every other patron was at least 90 years old it was delicious as always. We then saw "The King's Speech." Even though I was a little worried it would be boring, we both really enjoyed it. It was a fabulous day spent with my best friend. This is an old picture (I forgot to take any yesterday). I am so lucky to be married to Brandon and have Alex in my life.

9 months

We can hardly believe it but Alex turned 9 months old yesterday. This, of course, meant another doctor's appointment. Alex had a blast exploring a new area until the doctor came in. This time he was very shy and held onto Brandon.

Alex is in great health and is even getting a little fatter. Here are the stats:
Weight 18.1 lbs 14%
Length 27.5 in 25%
Head 17.7 in 42%

The doctor gushed about how cute Alex is. Many people tell us he looks like the Gerber baby. He is also very curious and active. He loves to explore. Everyday I set out tons of toys for him to play with but he would rather explore the house looking for new things. He doesn't like to be held which makes church a lot of fun. He is still sleeping 12 hours at night and taking 3 naps during the day. He is quick to laugh and even plays with Boo a little bit. He talks a lot! He is always babbling. He is still a great eater and we have yet to find a new food he doesn't like. These past 9 months have been the best ever and we are so excited for the future.

Standing Tall

It seems like Alex has grown up so much the past few weeks. Not only is he getting his first tooth (still working on it) and getting haircuts, he is also now pulling himself up and standing. He now does this ALL day long.

This is usually how we find him in the morning.

A Couple of Firsts

This has been a big week for Alex. On Wednesday we noticed Alex was getting his first tooth! It is on the bottom of his mouth and has just barely cut through the surface (so no pictures yet). Other than having a little bit of a cold he hasn't been fussy so we were surprised to see it. I will take pictures when it has cut through all the way.

We also decided to try giving Alex a little bit of haircut today. He has been blessed with a full head of hair since birth and it has gotten pretty long. Brandon and I had no idea what we were doing but gave it a go anyway. The before and after pictures aren't very different but we think it looks a little better.

We were terrified of taking too much off so it is still a little long.

8 Months Old

Today Alex is 8 months old. We can hardly believe it. Time has flown by. Alex is still a perfect baby. He is setting the bar very high for any future siblings. He is sleeping 12 hours a night and napping 2-3 times during the day. He is creeping and beginning to crawl. He loves to laugh, drool, and stick everything in his mouth (including Boo's chew toys). He is eating a lot of new foods. We have yet to find anything that he doesn't like. He is still small for his age but is finally wearing 6-9 month clothes. (We were sure getting tired of his 3-6 month old stuff). We are so lucky to have him in our family.

Here he is taking a bath. He loves the water and making a splash.

Just a few pictures from the big day...

We were especially excited for Christmas this year knowing it was Alex's first one. Luckily he was a good boy and Santa stopped by to drop off some presents.

I was lucky to get as many pictures of Alex as I did. He spent most of the day sleeping. Apparently the excitement was just too much for him.

Boo was also tuckered out from all the excitement.
...and so was Jessica

It was a wonderful Christmas. We are lucky to have such wonderful families!

Deck the Halls

Another excuse to use my camera, I decided to take some pictures of our home all decked out for Christmas. When Brandon and I unpacked our Christmas decorations this year we realized how sad our collection was, especially compared to our Halloween decorations. We bought a few more this year and got some as gifts which helped.
