Utah State Fair

Last week we spent a day at the Utah State Fair.  We have gone every year since Alex was born and we always have fun.  This year it seemed a little less exciting but it might just have been us.

Alex still loved seeing all the animals...

The highlight was definitely these lemurs.  They were so cute and friendly.  Alex even got to feed them which he thought was very cool.

Of course Alex had to check out the spider.  He is weirdly fascinated with them.

Another weird attraction they had were the high divers.  If you look closely you can see the diver at the very top of the pole (just under the flag).  The jump was pretty impressive.
It is always fun to get out and spend time with my boys.  Hopefully there will be a little more to do next year.

Our Home

Just a few short weeks ago Brandon and I set out to do a few small home improvement projects (ones that we had intended to do since we moved in three and a half years ago).  Our cute swing out front was starting to look run down, making our porch look a little sad.

After some paint, new shutters and a new pad we had a cute new porch.  We loved the result!  This was something we would enjoy for years to come...or so we thought.

Just a few days after finishing this project we decided to go to the parade of homes.  It is something we have always wanted to do but never made time for in the past.  After seeing about 30 homes in two days we visited one more model home about a block from our house.  We immediately fell in love and our minds began to turn.  Is this something we could do?  Do we want to?  We had lots of questions.   We have often talked about building a house someday but never really thought it would be an option.  We thought we would most likely be in the house we are in now forever.  We love the neighborhood, our house, and ward.  However, we decided to just make an appointment with the builder and see what the options were.  To our surprise it seemed very affordable.  A few days later we met with a realtor who assured us she could sell our house in a matter of weeks.  (We thought she was crazy).  From there everything else snow-balled.  We picked a lot, we met with lenders, we discussed floor plans and before we knew it our house was up for
sale.
Our house went on the market last Wednesday.  On Friday (two days later) we got an offer.  We couldn't believe it.  It was less than a month from going to the Parade of Homes to our house being sold.  Even though it has been a whirlwind so far we have felt very sure that this is what we are supposed to be doing.  Everything has just fallen into place and we are so grateful for this opportunity.  Now we get to play the waiting game while our new house is being built.  My VERY KIND sisters Jen and Sarah, have offered to let us (including Boo) stay with them.  It will be so nice because they have lots of extra room and are very close to where we are now.

Our realtor has created a blog to showcase the progress of our new home.  Here is the link if you are interested.

So far it just shows our lot.  Isn't she a beauty!

Happy Birthday Brandon/Daddy

The bad news is that Brandon is getting older.  The good news is that gives us an excuse to celebrate and have some fun.  In the morning Brandon opened his presents with Alex's help. (Excuse the bed head).

One of Brandon's favorite treats, a moon pie!

To celebrate this year we spent a few hours jet skiing at Jordanelle.  It was kind of a rainy day but for the few hours we were on the lake the sun came out and it was beautiful!  The lake was pretty empty and the water was nice and choppy which meant we got a lot of air.  Luckily we only fell off once and didn't flip our jet ski.  It was a lot of fun.
Afterwards we refueled at Flippin' Burgers in Park city.  It was delicious as usual.
At night we were able to see a movie while Alex slept over at Nikole and Jordan's.  It was a great day.

The next day we celebrated with my family at Sarah and Jen's house.  We barbecued hamburgers, opened presents, and played games.

This was my sad attempt at a Star Wars cake for Brandon.
The next week we also celebrated with Brandon's family with a delicious dinner.  I actually remembered my camera but forgot to take any pictures.  But we had a lot of fun!

Alex and I are so grateful to have Brandon in our lives.  He is the best husband, the best Dad and we love him.  Happy Birthday!

Summer Sum-Up

We can hardly believe that summer is already coming to an end.  We have been having so much fun.  Here are A LOT of pictures from some of our adventures.

Alex and I went to the Aquarium.  He loved running around, climbing on things and looking at all the different creatures.  These pictures were from my phone and not the best quality.

Alex's favorite thing to look at was this tank full of cockroaches.  It was disgusting but he was fascinated.

We had a very successful day!
Spent some time at the park...

Played with Mikah

Took a trip to Jungle Jims with some cousins...

Both Jessica and Jaden were so sweet to Alex.  They went on lots of rides with him and played on the playground with him for a long time.  He had SO much fun!

We even had time to see ParaNorman.  Some of Alex's favorite movies are Monster House, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Coraline.  So even though we knew it would be a little scary we knew Alex would love it.  We were right.  He was fascinated the entire movie.

Discovery Gateway with Grandma, Grandpa, Mikah and Max...

Alex was not a fan of sitting on the horse.

It has been such a fun summer with our little guy.  We can't wait to see what new adventures are in store!
