August

August was a very fun month.  We crammed in a lot of Covid approved out door fun before the kids had to head back to school.  It was a great month.

A few random pictures to start with...

On top of everything else we had going on this month Brandon took on a home project.  He added some shiplap to a wall in our front room.  It turned out beautiful!

Mia and I were outside one night and we heard the ice cream truck go by.  She immediately began to panic and we ended up chasing it down several streets away from our house.

One day we went swimming at the West Jordan pool with some neighbors.  Mia jumped off the diving board for the first time and Alex jumped off the high dive.

Mia had dance pictures this month.  I snagged a pic of her while we were waiting.

Just casually watching tv...

Since we were switching to a traditional school schedule this year I got to take both my kids school shopping for the first time.  It was so much fun! We shopped and they got to pick a treat.  Mia wanted to go to the grocery store for her treat and picked a Macaron.

Alex proved he wasn't too old to ride around in the cart and then picked Yogurtland for his treat.

Mia used a fan in her room to get the full model effect.

What a typical day of playing for Mia looks like.

We finished up our last set of swimming and diving lessons this month.  The kids did so great and it makes it even better to do it with cousins.

We were able to take our annual trip to Park City before school started as well.  We loved swimming in the pool.  Some days we got it to ourselves and some days it was busier.

We also visited Dolly's book shop like normal.  Mia was excited to find the cat.  We also waited in a longer line than normal for Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory but it was worth the wait!

We tried a new activity this time and visited the crater in Midway.  We got to swim in it for an hour.  It was very hot so we were a little happy when our time was up.  It was fun to try though.  After we swam we checked out the top of the crater as well.

We also visited the Park City Resort.  We made the mistake of going on a Saturday this year so it was much busier than usual.  They also only had a few things open because of Covid.  We were able to do the coaster and the alpine slide though.

The view from the Condo.

We stopped by this semi-creepy hidden Sound Garden we found last year.  This year it gave our kids metal slivers that Brandon had to pick our of their hands.  We probably won't be touching it next year.

Before school started we squeezed in a little more fun and went camping with our friends, the Petersons.  It was so much fun!

We hiked to Lake Mary.  We discovered some of us like hiking more than others but we all made it and the view at the top was worth it!

We saw two Moose on our way up the mountain and on the way down one of them was even closer to the trail. It was very cool!

At the end of the month it was finally time for the kids to start school.  It was a week later than originally planned, they don't go on Fridays and they have to wear a mask all day but we will take it! They both loved their teachers and everything has been going great!

As with Alex, I was a little nervous for Mia to start first grade.  It is a big transition since she hasn't been in school since February, she has to eat lunch at school and she will not be able to understand her teacher for half the day. But, she has loved it so far and has made lots of new friends!

She could pose all day!

Social distancing line up.

This at first grade orientation.  They are not allowing parent volunteers to come in this year so this may be the only time I get to see her in class.

At the end of the month we got to celebrate our favorite dad's birthday.  The kids had school that day so we had to open presents bright and early!

Brandon and I got spend an afternoon celebrating his birthday.  We saw the new Bill and Ted movie in the theater.  It was so fun to see a new movie in the theater for once! Then we stopped at this food truck called On the Hook.  They had delicious fish and chips.

On his actual birthday we took the kids to Huhot for dinner.  This was Mia's outfit of choice.
