June

June was a great month! We had a lot of fun and had a great start to the summer.  The first week of June the kids were just finishing up school.  I am so sad that Alex is now done with Elementary school.  He is excited for middle school though.

His class had a luau the last day of school.  He has liked being in the French program throughout Elementary school and I'm excited to see how much he'll learn in middle school.

This month Mia got to go up to "This is the Place State Park" for an activity days activity.  She had tons of fun!

Just doing some tye-dye.  I don't know why her face looks like that.

One day this month Alex got to go to Lagoon with his friend for the day so we got to spend the day shopping with Mia.  It was a lot of fun.

Alex just hanging out with a Dragon Fly.

Mia also had to have two teeth pulled this month.  It was supposed to be three but she lost a tooth right before her appointment.  The dentist was very impressed with how tough she was.  She didn't even flinch as he gave her lots of shots to numb her mouth.  She wasn't too crazy on the gas except for a few times she was creepily whispering under her breath.  I couldn't tell what she was saying though.

Alex loves sushi but hasn't had a lot of opportunities to eat it.  One day for lunch this month he and I went to get Sushi for lunch.  We both really liked it!

We had another fun activity days activity this month.  We learned about fire safety and made smores.

Alex proved that he is the messiest eater of them all.

We spent a lot of time this month at swimming lessons.  Mia took swimming lessons and Alex took water polo and diving lessons.  They are both doing so well!

We celebrated Father's day this month a day early this month since we were heading out of town.  We are so lucky to have Brandon in our family!

On Father's day we headed out of town with just Mia.  Alex went to stay with his friend Asher and we took Mia on a solo trip to Las Vegas. We had done this with Alex when he was eight as well.  We had so much fun but she did mention a lot that she missed Alex.

We stayed at Mandalay Bay in a room with a great view of the strip.  We really liked the hotel overall.  It was very crowded though.

Like Alex, Mia was most excited to swim.  As soon as we got there we headed down to the pools.  They had lots of family friendly pools including a lazy river and a wave pool.

Then we headed out on the strip to explore for the night.

We ate dinner rather late at a place called the Sugar factory.  Mia was already tired and we were very hungry waiting for our food.

She was very excited to see her s'mores crepe that she ordered though.

She also picked out some candy from their candy store.

We went on the giant Ferris wheel at the end of the night.  It made Mia a little nervous.  It takes 28 minutes to do one full rotation.

The next day we checked out the Shark aquarium in the hotel.  It was very cool!

The piranhas thought Mia looked delicious.

Sadly she didn't want the shark hat as her souvenir.

Then it was time for more swimming! We probably went around the lazy river a hundred times.

At night we went to see the Cirque Du Soleil show about Michael Jackson.  We thought Mia would like it because of all the dancing.  She really didn't know any of his music other than Thriller going into the show.  It ended up being an incredible show and she loved it.  It was very innovative and so fun to watch.  We even got scared by some dance zombies during Thriller.

After the show we made the mistake of going into the gift shop.  You could buy a glove that lights up and Mia thought it was amazing.  We tried to talk her out of it but she was too excited.

After the show we did a little more shopping around the strip.

It must have been a successful few days because she was very tired the next morning.

Mia picked out a giant watermelon gummy for Alex and he was very excited!

We had one day home and then we headed out on our next adventure.  We went camping again to the Palisades with the Petersons. We missed a quick storm when we got there and we were able to go out of the water for a bit.

During dinner though it started raining.  It gave us a little bit of a break but then rained and was very windy most of the night.  No one slept great because of all the noise but our tent kept us very dry.

We are glad we stuck it out though because the next day was beautiful.

We played games, ate lots of food and spent a lot of time kayaking and playing in the water.

Between the two families we brought enough food to last a year.

On of the best parts of the Palisades is riding around the property.

It was such a fun trip, I hope we can do it every year!

The last week of June Mia got to attend a drama camp with Elsie and Lilah.  She has been so excited for this! I snuck one picture of them on the first day.  They got to learn and perform in a play and also swim every day of the camp.  Mia loved it!

Mia's softball team had an end of year party at the end of the month.  They got their trophies and got to play at Nicklemania.  Brandon took her and Alex to play.
