July

July was such a fun month.  Alex was only out of school for three weeks so we had to take advantage and squeeze a lot of fun into that time.

We started our 4th of July celebrations by helping host a pancake breakfast for our street.  It was a lot of fun and a tradition we hope to continue.  Brandon cooked most of the pancakes and the kids had a lot of fun running around.  We just need bigger trees!

There was even face painting so Alex got a Captain America symbol on his head.

Later on we went with my family to see Despicable Me 3.  Our kids loved the movie and the arcade games at the theater.

After playing games and getting dinner we finished off the day by watching the Murray fireworks.  Mia was pretty bored but Alex enjoyed them.

We've had a lot of fun checking out a lot of different splash pads this month.  My kids are the perfect age to both enjoy them.

Alex got to spend a night at Grandma and Grandpa Clements house with Mikah and Max.  When we dropped him off Mia made herself right at home too.  Alex had a ton of fun and Mia was not too happy to leave.

At one Costco shopping trip Mia insisted on trying out every couch and chair they had and made me take a picture of each one.  She is actually a lot of fun to shop with.

We also took Alex to see Spider-man this month.  He thought it was pretty cool and wanted to play Spider-man when we got home.  He managed to squeeze into his Halloween costume from when he was three.  Fits like a glove!

Mia and Alex also took swimming lessons this month.  This was Mia's first time and she had so much fun.  I was worried she would be a little timid but she went right for it and laughed and played the whole time.  It was fun to watch.

It was especially fun because they got to have their cousins in their class.

Alex had been begging us to take him hiking.  We finally did and hiked to Donut Falls.  It was a lot of fun and Alex can't wait to go again.  Mia even walked the whole way without complaining.

We ended up having to go through the water to get to the falls which Alex thought was pretty cool.

We were able to go to a Bee's game this month with Brandon's cousins Tristan and Natasha.  Alex and Mia love hanging out with them and they are so fun to indulge them.

Treats are always the highlight.

It was an especially fun night because it was "Star Wars" night.  After the game they had quite the fireworks show timed to Star Wars music.

Tristan showed Alex how to play some Lacrosse which he thought was pretty cool.

Mia and Alex even got to have a sleepover with the Clarks at their hotel.  They had so much fun!

I love how well they play together!

Mia always needs a grace period when waking up.  She might get that from her mom.

Along with the rest of Utah we also tried out the new giant splash pad in Bluffdale.  It was very cool but very big and busy.  Our kids could have stayed all day and are excited to go back.

Before the 24th of July we checked out the floats for the parade.

Alex was excited to get a balloon creation.  Mia was not excited and refused to be in the picture holding it.

One of the last activities we fit in was a day at the "beach" with cousins.  Alex and Mia had so much fun.  Mia cried when it was time to go home and Alex has been asking to go again ever since.

The kids found this crawdad.  It was dead but still gross.

On the 24th of July we had the annual Cul de Sac of Fire.  It was a ton of fun as always with delicious food.  Sadly it did start to rain and get windy so we weren't able to do fireworks.  We tried again a few nights later and the weather turned again. Alex was so sad we never got to light off the giant one.

And just like that it was time for Alex to head back to school.  He was excited for second grade!

He looks so grown up.

Finally, this month Brandon's grandma passed away.  We will miss her but we are glad she is no longer in pain.  Our kids love going to her house and playing with her and Stephanie.

I took a few pictures in her backyard while we were visiting her before she passed away.  We have so many good memories here.
