August

August was a great month! It was nice to have a slower month to recover from the last few months of craziness.  Here are the highlights...

We took a family trip to the zoo with my side of the family.  We lucked out with a day that wasn't too hot.

After several years in a row of missing the polar bears, one was finally out this year.  We even caught him swimming for a moment.

Brandon and I went to see Singin in the Rain at Hale Center Theater this month.  We had heard good things so we wanted to check it out.  Neither of us have seen the movie but we really liked the play.

I went back to school shopping with both Mia and Alex this month.  We also stopped to get a treat. I love spending one on one time with them.

We spent one of our last Saturdays before school started at Cherry Hill with the Petersons.  The boys are old enough to roam around on their own so we get to hang with the girls.  It was lots of fun and we just missed the rain!

Fall sports started up for Alex again.  Often Mia is at dance during his games but when she is not she loves to come cheer him on. Really she just loves to come and get treats.

We went to Mia's back to school night a few days before school started.  She is excited to go back to school and see her friends again.  They even gave us nachos!

On the morning of the first day of school.  Alex had to go back a day before Mia so he could get used to being in Middle School.  I think he was a little nervous but not too bad.  Brandon got up even earlier and made Alex his breakfast of choice, chocolate chip pancakes.

He even let me take his picture before going in.  He has really liked middle school so far and hasn't had too much homework.  He is taking an art class as his elective.  He is also continuing his French and taking a French culture class.  He is pretty amazing!

The next day was Mia's first day of 3rd Grade.  She was also thrilled to get up early again. Brandon also got up early again to make Mia her breakfast of choice which was German pancakes.  These are lucky kids!

Mia loves school and has loved being back.  She likes her new teachers.  On the first day she really wanted to wear pants.  It has been so hot though when I picked her up she had pulled her pants all the way up until you couldn't see them any more.

Now masks are used for when Brandon farts in the car.

Mia is rocking the 90s fashion.

Alex has started mowing the lawn which is awesome.  We have found some big bugs the last few weeks in our yard.

Really focusing on his scriptures...

Mia got invited to a play date with some school friends.  They even got to go swimming at their neighborhood pool.

One night this month we got to use Brandon's parents REAL tickets.  It is always a good time.  It was a good game until the very end when they sort of fell asleep and let the other team tie it up.

Mia is always up for some snacks.

Mia would not take a picture with Leo the Lion though.

At the end of the month we got to celebrate Brandon's birthday!

While the kids were at school Brandon and I got to go see a movie.

Also at the end of the month Brandon took Alex to his first concert, "Murder by Death."  I think Brandon was just excited to have a concert buddy.

The last day of the month Indy came to start his stay with us.  Boo was especially excited!
