Fall Soccer

Another soccer season has come and gone and it was a success.  We are so proud at how well Alex is progressing.  He worked really hard, scored at least one goal a game and most impressive had a happy attitude the whole season.  This season he was the youngest in his group so we thought he wouldn't keep up quite as well but he really surprised us.  We are so proud of him!

Alex had the crowds laughing with his expressive faces.

Mia toughed our every game in her stroller.  She is Alex's greatest fan!

Alex signed up with his good buddy Carter.  They had so much fun playing together.

We had great weather the whole season until the the last game of the season it had rained a bunch the night before.  They couldn't cancel it because the fields were closing that day so they wouldn't be able to make it up.  So instead they just played in the mud.

Showing off their muddy shirts by the end of the game.

We are so excited we get to finish the season next spring.  This is a great bunch of kids.

September Highlights

We had a very fun September and enjoyed the (mostly) beautiful weather.  Alex went back on track but we still had enough time to have lots of fun!

At the beginning of the month we went to a Bees game.  It is one of my favorite ways to spend a summer night.  Mia kept us on our toes but we had a lot of fun.  Alex liked getting some ice cream and even got to play on the playground.

We also spent a day at Wheeler Farm, minus a few cousins this time.  It was a beautiful day and fun as usual.

Also, this month Alex and Brandon attended "Force Friday" at Toys R Us.  Really this was just a marketing ploy to get people to buy all the new Star Wars toys from the new movie.  It started at midnight.  At the last minute Brandon decided to get Alex up and take him.  I wasn't sure how this would go.  A few weeks before we had gotten Alex up to come watch a lightning storm out our back window.  Alex was so annoyed we woke him up and asked to go back to bed.  This time, however, with the mention of Star Wars and toys Alex woke right up and was excited to go!

Waiting in line.

The selection turned out to be not so great (which was good for our bank account).  They had fun though!

Alex made this love wreath in primary one week.  We thought it was very cute.  He included Mom, Dad, Mia and Grandpa Hettinger.  We especially liked how well he captured Grandpa's hair.

We made it out to get Snow Cones on the last day it was open.  They are one of our favorite summer treats.

Mia is in the stage where she won't leave anything alone in her hair.  This means that her hair is usually hanging in a mop in her face.  One day I attempted piggy tails.  She looked pretty cute while it lasted.

One day we attempted walking home from school.  It was a particularly hot day so by the time we got home Alex was hot, tired and said lets never do that again.

Enthralled by Sleeping Beauty.

After several years of working on this quilted table runner I finally finished it.  Alex insisted on being in the picture.  If you don't look too closely you can't tell how crooked it is.

Mia fits right in in Nursery with me.  She loves playing with all the kids and toys.  And even better, Brandon just got called to Nursery so he gets to play with us too.  It is a lot of fun!

As is tradition we attended the State Fair again this year.  This is my favorite way to kick off Fall.  The weather was a little tricky this year.  It was supposed to rain the two days we had free to go.  We picked one and as soon as we got there it began to pour.  We waited about ten minutes and luckily it stopped.  It was nice the rest of the day.  It ended up being a great day to go because I think the rain kept some of the crowds away.

Alex got to try out every ride.

The highlight this year was the circus.  Other than being incredibly hot in the tent it was a cool show.  At first Alex was annoyed that we had to take a break from the rides but then he was captivated by the circus.  He wanted to stay for the full hour.  These dancing camels were the highlight of the show for me.  So random!

Mia hung out in her stroller the whole time while waiting for Alex to go on rides.

Roaring at the bunnies!

We wanted to check out Mindi's picture of Elsie in the photography building.  We tried to get Alex to take a picture in front of it but he wasn't super willing.  At least the picture of Elsie is sure cute!

Mad at me for some reason.

The picture doesn't do it justice but there was a very cool double rainbow outside our back door.

After church goals: Take off your shirt and get out the Legos.

Enjoying double desserts at Grandmas.

During Green Ribbon week Alex's school encouraged them to walk to school one day.  Alex was much happier this time.  The cooler temps and the fact that we were going down hill this time helped.

Brandon has to leave for work by 5:30 in the morning and usually doesn't get home until 8:00.  On this night he took time to read Alex some stories even before eating dinner.  He is the best Dad and we are lucky he works so hard for us.

Finally, Alex got school pictures taken at the beginning of the year.  It made me sad how grown up he looks, goofy smile and all.  We sure love him!
