July was a fun and busy month. Alex only had three weeks off from school during July so we felt like we needed to pack in a lot of fun into those three weeks.
Boo and Dudley have become best friends.
The 4th of July was a lot of fun. We celebrated both the 4th and Grandma's birthday at her house.
I can't believe how big they already are.
She can't handle our beautiful singing.
At the fireworks...I like how Alex found his way into each picture.
The day after the 4th Brandon and I headed to Colorado to see The Flight of the Conchords in concert. We dropped off Mia and Alex at Grandma and Grandpa Clements house the night before and drove all day in order to make it to the concert that night. The drive was actually pretty quick.
They were playing at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. It was such a cool venue. However to actually get up the venue it was quite the hike. People were even charging for rides to the top. Then once you made it to the venue you had to climb a million stairs to get up the seats. It was worth it though. The stage was nestled right in to the red rocks and overlooked the Denver skyline.
We were a little nervous the concert wouldn't happen at all because they had canceled their previous show. Brett had been sick but luckily was well enough to go on that night. We were so glad we didn't make the drive for nothing!
It was such a fun show and we were so glad we went. We also spent the next day in Colorado. We slept in, ate a late breakfast, saw two movies, went shopping and had a delicious dinner at McCormick and Schmidt's. The next day we headed home.
We stopped on the way home at Little America. I have many memories of stopping there on softball road trips but it was very different than I remember. We enjoyed a cone before moving on though.
I was excited to get home to our kiddos. Alex loved his gummy pizza we brought home for him.
Boo had a great time soaking up the attention from Wilson and Elsie while they came to play one day.
Alex is really the best big brother. He loves helping Mia and playing with her. I hope it lasts!
Having too much fun this summer!
We decided to check out Herriman's splash pad since the kids love going to the one by our house. This one was awesome because there were lots of shady trees nearby and hardly any other kids were there. Mia and Alex loved running around and could have stayed all day.
One of the fun activities Alex requested to do while he was off of school was paint a craft. I took him to Wood Connection and he picked out some thing he wanted to create. Luckily they had a few boy things. He ended up making an army truck and the letter A. They both turned out awesome and he loved doing it. He has been begging me to take him back.
I'm not sure what is happening in this picture but this is a pretty typical evening activity at our house. Alex and Mia play a game called ready, set, go, and they basically just run around the kitchen. It's hard to tell them to stop when they are both giggling so much.
Mia enjoyed exploring their yard while Alex was swimming. She loved saying hi to the chickens.
On the way out they made us take pictures in front of all the movie displays.
Mia insisted on putting popcorn in each cup to eat for a snack.
We also celebrated this month with the Cul-de-sac of Fire at the Everitts house. We ate lots of delicious food, played games, and watched an excellent fireworks show. It was lots of fun as usual.
Mia had fun in the Everitts dress ups.
Mia's crib gets more and more crowded every day.
On the 25th of July some of us ran the Deseret News 5K. It was a lot of fun and I think it is the perfect length for a race.
I look very graceful trying to push it to the finish line.
And very sweaty...
Brandon and Mia got up very early to come see me finish. After the race we stopped for some delicious breakfast at the Original Pancake House and then took a nap on the couch.
I finished with a great time for me. I ended up 4th in my age bracket and ran 10:38 pace.
Alex had stayed the night with Mikah and Max at Grandma and Grandpa Clements house. He had so much fun swimming and playing with them. In the afternoon we were able to meet up with them and get some yummy dinner and play games at Nikole and Jordan's. It was a fun day!
And finally, at the end of the month Alex started First grade. This was definitely a harder transition for me than preschool or kindergarten. I was so nervous for him to be gone all day, eat lunch at school and learn French. Alex is in the French Immersion program at his school so he has two teachers. Half the day he learns in English and the other half he learns only in French. He has done great, despite my worry and was sad when Saturday came and he didn't get to go to school. I can't believe how grown up he has become.
Later than night I caught these two playing together in the backyard. We love them!
