August was a very fun month. We crammed in a lot of Covid approved out door fun before the kids had to head back to school. It was a great month.
A few random pictures to start with...
On top of everything else we had going on this month Brandon took on a home project. He added some shiplap to a wall in our front room. It turned out beautiful!
Mia and I were outside one night and we heard the ice cream truck go by. She immediately began to panic and we ended up chasing it down several streets away from our house.
Just casually watching tv...
Since we were switching to a traditional school schedule this year I got to take both my kids school shopping for the first time. It was so much fun! We shopped and they got to pick a treat. Mia wanted to go to the grocery store for her treat and picked a Macaron.
Alex proved he wasn't too old to ride around in the cart and then picked Yogurtland for his treat.
We finished up our last set of swimming and diving lessons this month. The kids did so great and it makes it even better to do it with cousins.
We also visited Dolly's book shop like normal. Mia was excited to find the cat. We also waited in a longer line than normal for Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory but it was worth the wait!
We tried a new activity this time and visited the crater in Midway. We got to swim in it for an hour. It was very hot so we were a little happy when our time was up. It was fun to try though. After we swam we checked out the top of the crater as well.
Before school started we squeezed in a little more fun and went camping with our friends, the Petersons. It was so much fun!
We saw two Moose on our way up the mountain and on the way down one of them was even closer to the trail. It was very cool!
At the end of the month it was finally time for the kids to start school. It was a week later than originally planned, they don't go on Fridays and they have to wear a mask all day but we will take it! They both loved their teachers and everything has been going great!
As with Alex, I was a little nervous for Mia to start first grade. It is a big transition since she hasn't been in school since February, she has to eat lunch at school and she will not be able to understand her teacher for half the day. But, she has loved it so far and has made lots of new friends!
Social distancing line up.
At the end of the month we got to celebrate our favorite dad's birthday. The kids had school that day so we had to open presents bright and early!
