February

February sure flew by! We squeezed a lot of fun into this short month.  Here are the highlights!

Alex still eating like a toddler...

We got to attend Jaryn's baptism this month.  It was a great day.  It was especially cool because Jaryn had asked Alex to play a musical number on the piano for his program.  Alex played a beautiful version of Come Follow Me.  He worked really hard on it for a month and a half and played it perfectly at the baptism.  I was really proud of his dedication and his talent.

This month at school Mia got to celebrate 2/22/22 on a Tuesday in 2nd Grade.  She wore a tu-tu, tube socks, two shirts and had two matching bows in her pigtails to celebrate.

We attended three events this month.  It was only supposed to be two but Hamilton got rescheduled because of Covid.  We were so glad we were still able to go.

The first was Treasure Island at Hale Center Theater.  It was a pretty cool play.  They had real water around the stage so the actors could jump in and out of the "ocean." It also rained during the play.  The kids thought it was pretty amazing!

We were also thrilled that Hamilton was rescheduled and we didn't have to wait too long to see it.  Our kids have been obsessed with the music so we wanted to bring them but we weren't sure how well Mia would like sitting through it.  She did great, however and we all loved it! Alex said he wished he could see it again right after.

Finally, we saw the sixth Harry Potter movie played along with the Symphony. We have taken Alex to each of the movies but this was the first time taking Mia.  We have been watching all the previous movies to catch her up which has been a lot of fun.  It was a great time!

This month we also celebrated Valentine's day.  Our kids make the best faces, especially first thing in the morning.  We started the day off with our traditional donuts!

Everyone got a small gift.

Mia was clearly excited.

Alex drew a card for Mia which included an inside joke they share.

Mia had been preparing for days before this, making gifts for all of us.  She made Alex and Brandon belts and she made me a skirt.  It was pretty cute to see how serious she took it and how excited she was to give us our gifts.

My new skirt...

Brandon continued his tradition of amazing cards with this one.

We also went skiing as a family this month.  This is always an adventure and a lot of work.  We had such a great time this year though.  It helped that Mia really took off and was able to ski all on her own.  By the end of the day I literally couldn't keep up with her.  That isn't saying too much though because I am pretty slow.

We took the kids out of school and went on a Wednesday which meant that it wasn't busy at all on the mountain.  It was so nice!

We tried out the magic carpet before her morning class.  She was already in tears and couldn't even stand straight in her skis.

I was nervous to send her off with her instructor.  It was a man which I knew would make her more nervous and she was the only one in the class.  Yay, for a private lesson! However, from the beginning he had her skiing on her own and by the end of the class he had even taken her on the bigger lift.

I continued my slow skiing.

The lunch break might be my favorite part of skiing!

Alex also took another class just to work on his S turns.  He pretty much has them down though and keeps doing awesome!

The second half of the day Alex and Brandon went off to the big lifts and Mia and I went down the bunny hill about 400 times.  She would fly down it and I'd try to keep up and then we would repeat.

Proof we were still smiling at the end of the day!

Alex also took his first trip to the temple this month.  I think he was a little nervous but by the end said it was very cool and is excited to go back.  Brandon got to baptize him and a few other people and I got to be a witness.  It was a great way to start off our Saturday.  Too bad it is so hard to make an appointment.

Alex has also been working super hard on Hunter Safety for the past few months.  He had to complete an online program and then complete a field day that included some shooting.  Brandon got to take him and spend an entire Saturday in class with him.  Luckily he passed his written test with a 100 percent and passed the shooting test.  He is excited to go hunting with uncle Trevor this fall and luckily Brandon is kind enough to go along to supervise.

The same day Mia had softball "tryouts." She has really been wanted to try softball for a few years but it is hard to find the time with dance. This year we decided to just go for it and we're hoping she doesn't have to miss too much for dance.  It was a freezing day but she had a lot of fun and is excited to get started next month.

It was a busy but very fun month!
