Independence Day

We had another fabulous Independence day this year. As usual it was filled with family, food, and fireworks. And as usual we are exhausted now that it is over.

On Saturday night we thought it would be fun to give Alex his first taste of fireworks by doing a few ourselves. We let him stay up past his bed time so it would be a little dark and took him out front in his pajamas and all. We were glad to find out that he wasn't scared of the fireworks but he wasn't that impressed by them either. It sure takes a lot to impress this kid.

On Monday not only were we celebrating the 4th of July but we were also celebrating a few birthdays. First, we celebrated Kink's birthday at a BBQ on the roof of his condo. It was fun meeting a lot of family for the first time and catching up.

We also celebrated my mom's birthday with games, presents, and cake. This Cranium battle went on a little long.

Anxiously awaiting birthday cake.

Wishing for a perfect football season...

Alex enjoyed some snacks...

...and then some cake.

Giving Mindi the stink eye!

Finally, we capped off the day with the traditional fireworks at Murray Park. Sadly they were a record pathetic this year but we had fun anyway.

Getting ready for the fireworks.
Alex spent most of the time playing with this umbrella. Apparently it was much cooler than any fireworks.

Trying on Daddy's shoes.

Watching fireworks with Jessica.

Watching with Grandpa.

Having Alex makes holidays a lot more fun and a lot more exhausting. It is so much fun to see him experience things for the first time.
