June

Even though Alex still had to attend school in June we still had time to have a lot of fun.  Here are some highlights.

Mia loves watching Princess movies.  She doesn't hold still often so I always seem to snap a picture when she does.

We love having a splash pad right by our house.  It is the perfect way to cool off for both Mia and Alex.  They love it.

Sometimes Mia would get a little nervous about all the kids and the shooting water so Brandon was nice enough to accompany her into the splash zone.

Just having a tea party in the back yard.  I'm sure one day Alex won't love to play with Mia but I'm enjoying it while he does.

Enjoying smores.

At the park by our house.  Mia kept laying down and thought it was hilarious.

I'm not sure what was happening in this picture but I love it.

Cutest puppy!

Boo making friends with Dudley.  It took them a little while but they seemed to have warmed up to each other. They were about the same size at this meeting but Dudley is now about double Boo's size.

Our old one broke so we got a new pool this year.  We have already gotten a lot of use out of it this summer.  Mia especially loves the water.

Alex found this spider while we were playing outside and made quick friends with it.  He even let it crawl all over him.

This was Alex's face when he realized his new spider friend had drowned.  Poor kid!

For the past few months we have been watching all of the Harry Potter movies with Alex.  We finally made it to the eighth movie and to make it a little more fun we made some frozen butter beer to go with it.  They were delicious.  We even had a sleepover in the living room.  It was lots of fun.

Also this month we went to see Finding Dori with all of the cousins on Brandon's side of the family.  Alex loved it and Mia tolerated it.  She got a little bored at the end.

We also got to celebrate our favorite Dad this month.  We love Brandon and appreciate all he does for us!

Alex had to explain his elaborate Star Wars drawing on the packaging of the present he made for Brandon at school.  It was super cute.

Brandon is a sucker for most things gimmicky or nostalgic.  So when they announced they were re-releasing Ecto Cooler Brandon just had to get his hands on some.  Let's just say they weren't cheap!

Alex and his cute friend Cooper had a ton of fun playing in the water at his house.  Cooper's mom always sends me cute pictures of them.

A few days later they repeated the fun at our house.

Thanks to YouTube Alex has been wanting to try the Bean Boozled Jelly Beans for a while now.  They have good flavors and gross ones that look the same so you never know what you are getting.  They are so disgusting.  Alex ate spoiled milk, rotten egg, dead fish, and more disgusting ones.  I even tried a few.  They are horrible and tasted way too realistic.

He needed a spit bowl just like the videos.

We caught this disgusting spider this month in our backyard.  Originally we caught it to see what it was since it was so big.  It turned out to be a wolf spider.  I thought it would die in a few hours stuck in the jar with no air.  A week later it was still alive so we finally put it out of its misery.  We also found another one in our garage a few days later so they may be out for revenge.  I'm not sure if these are better or worse than the black widows we often see.

These little girls love their Aunts!

It came much too quickly but just like that Alex is done with Kindergarten.  He had an end of year program this month.  He did a great job singing songs and saying his memorized part.  We can't believe how much he has learned and grown this year.  He says he is excited for first grade for only one reason: two recesses and lunch.

Alex wanted to document his blue tongue.  He stole my phone and took a few selfies.  I found them later and had a good laugh.  There were a ton of pictures.

Finally, this month Alex took tennis lessons for the first time.  We had no idea what to expect but we ended up really liking it.  Alex loved to go to his lessons despite being by far the youngest in his class.  He kept up with the older kids just fine and learned a lot.  If only it weren't so hot on those courts!

Mia came each week and ran around while Alex played.  She had just as much fun as he did.

We found a very small piece of shade.
