March

March was a very busy month for us.  Mia did a lot of dancing and our house was once again torn apart.  I'm glad the month is over but it flew by! Here are the highlights.

If she is home Mia is always doing something artistic.  This Ground Hog art she did at school.  We thought her writing was pretty funny.

Mia made each of us Easter cards.  She worked hard on every page.  This one was for Alex.  It was very cute.

I'm not sure what is happening here. These two shared a room for most of the month.  They slept down stairs together while we were yet again getting new floors installed.  When it was finally time for them to go back to their own rooms they begged to have one more night together.  I'm so glad they genuinely love being together!

One of the days the floors were being installed the kids had off of school.  So to get out of the house for a bit we went and got breakfast at Black Bear Diner.  It was a great way to spend the morning!

The before picture of our floors.

The after picture.  They are very similar but we do actually like the new floors better.  They are a little better quality.  Our baseboards got pretty beat up being pulled off and reinstalled for the second time so we are looking into replacing those as well.  It never ends!

Our neighbor was selling this arcade machine and Brandon was very excited to snatch it up.  The kids love it too!

One day Mia decided to have a funeral for this rug.  It was beyond bizarre but she went to a lot of work to cover every detail.  She even wrote a speech.  Brandon and I got to attend the funeral.

More of Mia's art from school.

Competition season is upon us and most of March was filled with dance.  It is fun to see what Mia has been working all year on.  She has three dances this year.  A hip hop, lyrical and jazz dance.  They are all great!

They started off the year with their showcase.

I had to capture a picture of everyone that came to support Mia and the other cousins dancing.  Brandon's parents also came.  We were all lucky enough to sit through three dance shows to see all the dances.  Alex isn't pictured because he got to spend the weekend up at Mikah and Max's house celebrating Max's birthday with him.  He had the best time and was thrilled to miss all that dance.

Cutest dancers!

While sitting through three dance shows the weather suddenly turned and a snow storm started.  Luckily we made it home before it got too crazy.  This is what things were looking like before we went to bed.  It was crazy! Just a few miles east they didn't get near as much snow as we did.

The next weekend we got to head up to Ogden for a competition and convention.  We had to be in Ogden by 7:00 am on Friday morning.  It was rough.  Luckily Brandon could come and help with last minute make up touch ups.  He is much better and doing lip stick and eye lashes than I am!

After competing in the morning Mia and I had to drive back home so that I could teach Junior Achievement in her school class.  After that we had to drive right back up to Ogden again so she could attend the convention part of the weekend.  She took different classes from 3:00 until after 8:00.  She even got to try tap for the first time.  She thought it was a lot of fun but I just thought it was a long day!

We got a weekend off and then it was back to competing.  This time in Provo.  Luckily we didn't have to be there too early.  The girls did really well and ended up getting first place overall with their Jazz dance.  (Dance scoring still confuses me but I'm starting to get it).  This competition would have been great but part way through Mia's dance bag suddenly disappeared.  Luckily her costumes weren't in it but everything else we brought was including all our makeup, hair stuff, her nice shoes, and her team jacket.  For over an hour it was gone.  We looked all through the dressing room countless times.  We were about to give up when Mia suddenly spotted it on the other side of the room.  It was under some chairs and behind another bag.  I don't know how she saw it.  We don't know why it got moved but we are just so glad we found it!

It's so fun to see our neighbors and cousins at the competitions.

This was after we found Mia's bag so we were feeling much happier!

On the way home we stopped for a late lunch at the Garage Grill.  Alex has been asking to try it.  It was pretty cool and pretty good food!

One other highlight this month was St. Patrick's day.  Mia tried making the Leprechaun a comfortable home so that he would be enticed to stay but sadly it didn't work.  It was a great idea though.  He did leave them a scavenger hunt with a treat at the end.

I'm glad we survived the month!
