July

July was a crazy month packed full of fun!  It might be one of the busiest months we've ever had.  It was so much fun!

At the start of the month Mia, along with Delilah and Elsie got to perform in their play they had been learning at the week long summer drama camp.  Mia thought it was all very fun and loved performing in the play.  She was young Anna and Delilah was young Elsa in their Frozen themed play.  They did lots of dancing, singing and some great acting.  I was very impressed at all they were able to do after only a week long camp.

Mia also got to be a snow man for a few numbers.  It was very cute!

The next day was Mia's birthday and baptism day!  This is a day we have been long looking forward to.  She started off the day with the breakfast of her choice and then opened presents.

Mia has some pretty great reactions when opening her presents.

She was most excited to get a giant stitch doll.  We didn't quite realize how big it was when we ordered it but she was very happy about it!

Alex worked really hard and drew Mia an awesome picture of Stitch for her birthday.  As a joke he gave her a really bad drawing at first to confuse her.  Then he gave her the real one.  It was pretty great!

In the early afternoon we held Mia's baptism.  It was pretty exciting that she got to be baptized on her birthday and also got to be baptized along with her cousin Delilah.  It was such a special day!

A few months before Mindi took some beautiful pictures of Mia in her baptism dress.  They turned out so beautiful and I loved them all!

We are so proud of Mia and the decision she made to get baptized.  It has been so fun to see her mature and grow into a beautiful, kind and fun young lady.

I just couldn't resist ordering some cute cookies for the big day.  They were so cute and were delicious too.  The lady who makes them also takes a picture of them as a keepsake.

We had to get a few of these two beauties together before the big day!

We got to hold the baptism and lunch after at Delilah's church.  It was a beautiful ordinance and so special to have lots of friends and family there.  Jen played the piano, Grandma Hettinger led the music, and Sadie gave an amazing talk on baptism.  Alex played When I am Baptized on the piano.  This is his third baptism in a row where he had to play a musical number.  He wasn't super thrilled to have to practice even more but he worked really hard and did a beautiful job.  I was so grateful and proud of him! Delilah's grandma, Michelle gave a beautiful talk on the Holy Ghost and Sarah and Grandma Clements said the prayers.  Brandon performed the baptism and confirmed Mia.  It was such a beautiful and perfect day.  Afterward we had lunch in the gym.  We ate lots of yummy food and loved celebrating with everyone! Mia is so lucky to have lots of people that love and support her.

Delilah's grandma, Michelle made Mia and Delilah's dolls baptism dresses that matched their own dresses.  It was so thoughtful and Mia thought it was so cool!

To top off the most amazing day Mia got to come home and have a mini birthday party as well.  She wanted a stitch themed birthday party.  Brandon made another amazing cake!

We ate cake and ice cream.  Mia opened her presents and we even played a candy game as well.  It was a whirlwind of a day but so fun and special for Mia!

It wore Scott out though...

The next day we celebrated Grandpas birthday but he was kind enough to let Mia pick the meal and dessert.  She wanted homemade Oreos and got sung to again!

After that it was the 4th of July.  We held our annual neighborhood pancake breakfast.  Lots of people came this year and the kids love running around with lots of neighbors.

Brandon cooked lots of delicious pancakes!

We spent the rest of the day playing games and celebrating Grandma Hettinger's birthday.

We finished the night by seeing the Murray fireworks.  It was a great day!

A few more random pictures from the month...

Mia really getting into the virtual reality.

Shopping with Mia is lots of fun but we don't always agree on what she should get.  She makes her feelings about what she likes very clear.

One night this summer the kids built a fort downstairs and then slept in it.  It looked very comfortable.

Weirdly enough our kids have never been to a drive-in movie.  We finally took them this year and saw Lightyear.  We tried to stay for Dr. Strange but Mia was quickly asleep and we were all tired.  It was fun but we definitely like the movie theater better.

Alex has gone to the temple a few more times to do baptisms for the dead. He really enjoys going.  I told him I'm going to take a picture of him every time he goes.

Nothing better than carpet samples.

Mia has been a bit slow in learning how to ride a bike.  She has not had a great bike but this year we took a hand me down from some neighbors so she was finally able to get it down.  Better late than never!

Mia has been begging to cut her hair for awhile.  I told her to wait until after her baptism but the time finally came.  I think she wanted it even shorter but she really loves it!

I love when these two just hang out.

We have had some crazy monsoon rainstorms this month.  After one we had a very cool double rainbow.

At the end of the month Alex got to go to his first ever Young Men's camp.  He was so excited the night before he couldn't sleep.  He ended up having a ton of fun and wasn't ready to come home.

I'm not sure what to say about this but he says he won so I guess that is something.

In case our month wasn't busy enough we also went on a big family vacation.  I'll save that for the next post!
