October Traditions

October really is the best month of the year.  This one was no exception.  We packed so much into the month and had a lot of fun.  Here are a few of the things we did during the first half of the month.
Alex was the special person of the week at school.  He got to bring a poster about himself, bring his favorite book and a show and tell.  We are so excited that he is loving kindergarten.  We also went to his parent teacher conferences this month.  He got a glowing report card.  He is reading at a first grade level and is doing a great job overall.  We are so proud of the great kid he is!

We went to check out the witches at Gardner Village early in the month.  We had a lot of fun hunting for them and the weather was gorgeous.  I thought it was funny that Alex would not sit closer than this to the witch.  He was a little nervous.

He also got his face painted and chose to get a black widow.

I turned around while doing dishes one morning to find Mia helping herself to some snacks.

Heading to lunch with Grandma and Stephanie.

It has now become a tradition for us (and the rest of Utah) to head down to Cornbelly's for the day during October.  We got there at 4:00 (as soon as they opened) and stayed almost until closing at 9:00.  We had so much fun as usual.  Each year there is more to do and Alex raves about it for the rest of the year.  It is a lot of fun!

Alex and Mia were fascinated by the signing robotic farm animals.  They watched for about 15 minutes before we pulled them away.

Waiting for the Candy Cannon.  It was pretty intense.

The candy explosion.  Right before it pummeled down on us.

Alex really wanted to do the zip line.  It turned out that he didn't weigh enough though.  He was very sad but instead decided to do the rock climb.  He had a hard time getting too high but still loved it.  He said he wants to go back so he can get all the way to the top next time.

Alex was most excited to do the corn maze.  We finally made it into it and must have taken a short cut because we got done with it in about 10 minutes.  Alex was a little disappointed that is went so fast.  We will have to try to get more lost next year.

Corn beach is always a favorite.  Alex could spend all day in it.  I also managed to lose Brandon's credit card in or around the beach but luckily someone turned it in to the lost and found.

I had to take a picture of this random kid.  He was filling his shirt up with the corn and all the other kids were bringing more corn to dump down his shirt.  It was pretty funny.

It was such a fun day!

This month they had red ribbon week at school (sandwiched between green ribbon and white ribbon week).  As a part of it they had crazy sock day.  These were Alex's choices.

Finally, on the 16th we had our annual Hettinger Halloween party.  While we were finishing getting ready Mia was giving out lots of hugs.  She kept taking turns hugging each of us.  It was pretty cute.

I wanted to get a picture before she pulled her hair out.  It usually doesn't last long.

We ate yummy food, played bingo and other Halloween games and had a lot of fun.
